Privacy policy

Last updated: 15 October 2026

This policy explains what personal data is processed when you visit realfin.dev ("this site"), which is run by RealFin, a private individual based in the European Union. Contact: [email protected].

Short version

1. Hosting and server logs

This site is delivered by Cloudflare, Inc. When you load a page, Cloudflare processes technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the requested URL in order to deliver the page and protect it against abuse. This is based on legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) in operating a secure website. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.

2. Advertising (Google AdSense)

This site may show ads served by Google Ireland Ltd. / Google LLC ("Google") through Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.

Visitors from the EEA, the UK and Switzerland are shown a consent message (a Google-certified consent management platform) before any personalised advertising cookies are set. Ads can be shown without personalisation if you decline. Processing for personalised ads is based on your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time via the consent settings link on the site.

You can opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings, and learn more at How Google uses information from sites that use its services. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' cookies at youronlinechoices.eu.

3. Comments (Giscus / GitHub)

The comment section is provided by Giscus and stores comments as GitHub Discussions. To comment you sign in with GitHub, and your comment, GitHub username and avatar become publicly visible. This site never receives your GitHub password. The comment widget only loads when you scroll to it. GitHub's processing is covered by the GitHub Privacy Statement. You can edit or delete your own comments on GitHub at any time.

4. Writing for this site (contributors)

If you contribute a post, you sign in to the editor with your GitHub account. The login is handled by GitHub; this site only receives a temporary access token that stays in your browser to save your drafts to your own GitHub copy of the site. The token is not stored on any server of mine. Your submission, GitHub username and author profile (display name, bio, optional avatar and links) are public on GitHub and, once published, on this site. Processing is based on the contributor terms you accept (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). You can ask for your profile and posts to be removed at any time.

5. Email

If you email me, I use your address and message only to reply. I don't add you to any list.

6. Children

This site is not directed at children under 16, and I don't knowingly collect personal data from them. Some posts discuss Roblox development, but they are written for developers, not for young players.

7. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectify and erase your data, to restrict or object to processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. Contact me at the address above. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, in particular in the EU country where you live or work (see the list of EU data protection authorities).

8. Changes

I'll update this page when the site changes (for example if analytics are added). The date at the top shows the latest version.
